History of the T-shirts Worn in Tampa FL

T-shirts, also referred to as tee shirts, golf shirts and polo shirts, are worn by almost everyone in Tampa FL as elsewhere in the United States. It was in 1948 that the slogan t-shirt was first used. Thomas E. Dewey, then New York governor, used it for his campaign with the slogan, “Dew it with Dewey.” In the middle of the 1950s the t-shirt became popular wear among young people after it was worn as an outer shirt onscreen by Hollywood stars John Wayne, Marlon Brando and James Dean. Today, the t-shirt has evolved to include various forms apart from the basic t-shaped garment with a round neck, short sleeves and no collar, pocket or buttons. It can now have various types of collars and sleeves, or even no sleeves at all.
