Question by LOVIN me and life: Do guys appreciate a woman who’s her “own person” or would they get jealous?
In my last relationhip, my ex broke up w. me bc I made him feel insecure, supposedly. I’m an old fashioned girl in love however i am also very modern in values. I’m not a feminist or some agressive chick nor am i a delicate princess that needs to be waited hand and foot. I’m a nursing assistant and nursing student and of course, I’m close to being a nurse. I want to be my own person, am ambitious w hobbies, yet still value “me time” and my family. I am someone who wants to continue in growing in life w. goals, new experiences, etc… and I want someone who doesn’t put a limit on my growth and supports me wholeheartedly.

In the begining my ex LOVED the idea of who i am – independent yet ladylike, fun but not wild, pretty/sexy without being slutty…but I don’t know how he became insecure from it. I’m not one to show off at all nor have I rubbed anything in his face or emasculated him. I respected and appreciated him. I had clases, study time, study groups…still able to balance that while find time for me, him, and my family. The break up took a toll on my self esteem for a while bc i was a good catch, he was very into me, then…he just gave up. During the relationship, I noticed he started changing too. He never went to college, he just worked a 9-5 job and “hung out/partied” on weekends. All of a sudden, he started having his own schedule – he wanted to go into the “tshirt” business, work on his car. When we would have our nightly talks, he would say, “oh honey, i’ve got a business meeting now w. the t-shirts…” “What? At 11 o’clock at night? At your house w. your friend?” Just bc I had a schedule he had one too…which didn’t bother me but I felt it was a bit condescending. My friend’s grandma just told me he was just plain insecure and not man enough for me. I’m definiltey alot better and have changed (this break up was months ago) but i’m just learning more from it. I shouldn’ t have to change myself for someone but was my friend’s grandma right? That he was just too insecure? Do men out there appreciate someone like me? Or are all guys jealous of a woman’s success and goals?
I supported him w. his cars and t-shirts (or whatever lol) and was enthusiastic about. I was his cheerleader. Yet when i met a career goal, he was happy but i got the feeling it made him feel bad…and I didn’t want him feeling so bad so sometimes, I wouldn’t even say anything…which sucks

The Grand Prize Winner of $ 150 was third grader Matthew Breier of Walker School, Bedford Park, IL. His T-Shirt had a picture of a bank with the slogan: ?I?m SAVING. You can take that to the Bank.? Honorable mention went to Cameron Buckley, third grade, Jefferson Elementary, Franklin MA for T-Shirt: ?I’m Saving for College To gain more Knowledge.? Local sponsor was Dean Bank, Franklin, MA.

The T-Shirt contest was held in celebration of April?National Financial Literacy Month. ?The self-confidence a child gains by building their own assets through saving is a powerful motivator. Harnessing that power to inspire other young people is what the contest is about, said School Savings President Cinnimin Avena.?

The contest required students to submit a T-shirt design on the entry form that included the words: “I’m Saving….” The design could illustrate ‘How I’m Saving’, ‘Why I’m Saving’, or ‘What I’m Saving for’. Save For America and SCHOOLSAVINGS.COM sponsored the contest. The Winners? schools were sponsored by Martha?s Vineyard Savings Bank, Edgartown, MA and Harris Bank, Summit, IL.
